Album of 3 Haiga Artists, 1938 Merger of Haiku and Visual Art Haiga San Ka Sen , published in Osaka, Showa 13 (1938), by Haiga Kankokai. Bound in traditional accordion style; 25 double leaves (50 pages); 10 x 7 inches, (26 x 18 cm). Light external wear; pages a little age-toned; one leaf roughly worn along outer edge; good condition overall. I don't really read Japanese and can't make anything at all out of calligraphic kanji, so my information on this book is pretty much limited to the colophon and trying to make out the artists' signatures. It is apparently an album of three haiga artists, haiga being the combination of haiku with visual art . I believe that two of the artists are Nakamura Fusetsu (1866-1943) and Ogawa Usen (1868-1938). The book was first published in 1934 and reprinted in 1938. T are about 45 full-page illustrations. It is apparently a scarce item. I have been unable to locate a copy in the National Diet Library, the Waseda University Library or the on-line union catalogue Worldcat. Click for more Japanese books. <
