1922 Grant Memorial half dollar with Star - PCGS AU58 PCGS rated this coin as AU58 and sealed it in their familiar plastic case (see photo). I guarantee this to be authentic. The photos of the front & back of this coin and the close up of its star were taken prior to the PCGS rating and sealing process. This coin was struck during 1922 as a centenary souvenir of Ulysses S. Grant's birth. The star appeared only on the initial minting of this coin. It is one of several commemoratives designed by Laura Gardin Fraser, a highly distinguished sculptor-medalist. The first 5,000 of these coins were struck with a small star on the obverse, just above the "N" in Grant's last name. The net mintage of this coin after the melting of unsold examples is about 4,245. This particular coin is one the few known specimens with the star that also have a diagnostic die break on the obverse, running from Grant's chin and bow tie. My grandparents acquired this particular Grant commemorative half dollar as a souvenir in the early-to-mid 1920's and it has been in our family's possession since then. I will accept the final proceeds into my PayPal account only. This coin will be shipped at no cost to buyer. My return policy: This certified coin may NOT be returned.
