I dont know if this was a butter dish...or what but it sure is neat, hard to believe the service was so grand back in the day of early airline travel, my heavens the dish is even signed by the artist!Its either L Hahn or well I dont know what else it might be. T is wear in the glaze along the lip but the tone the earthy color of the glaze and flowers is wonderful the body of the dish is white and amazingly no chips! Some smudges on the unglazed bottom I just didnt want to damage the stamp so I didnt try to clean it off. It is porcelain and on the bottom it is stamped in blue MADE EXPRESSLY FOR AMERICAN AIRLINES BY HALL CHINA CO. SUPPLIED BY MINNERS & CO. U. S. A T3-D1-33
