Hallmarked Sheffield silver cased cruet set 176g HENRY WIGFULL Here we have a 1916 Henry Wigfull (from Lee & Wigfull) solid silver cased cruet set, over 175 grams in weight , (excluding glass liners and the 'imposter' spoon...read on…). It is a fantastic elegant set of simple, but very stylish design. (see photos). The makers mark H.W and the Sheffield hallmark appears on all the items, except for the mustard spoon which is stamped "EPNS", and is hereafter referred to as the 'impostor' (although this MAY have been 'as issued' with the set). Comes supplied in its original fitted case, which is in good, but not fantastic, condition, as there is some wear to the outside and the elastic spoon retainers have perished.The mustard pot has a sterling silver Sheffield hallmark for 1916, has a hinged lid (also hallmarked) and a removable blue glass liner, The silver has no damage, bar a few pin burns from manufacture. The liner has a few chips, but otherwise is in good condition.The salt pot has a beautiful pierced, tight fitting, removable lid and carries the Sheffield hallmark for 1916, is in very good condition bar two tiny 'pin head' burns and a few light flame burns (slightly darkened marks beneath the top micron of silver and removable with patience and a piece of polishing leather) - all probably from original manufacture. The pepper pot too, has a beautiful pierced, tight fitting, removable lid and carries the Sheffield hallmark for 1916, is in very good condition bar a few light flame burns - again, probably from original manufacture.Both Sauce boats have a sterling silver Sheffield hallmark for 1916 and removable blue glass liners, and, as with the mustard pot, the liners both have a few chips, but otherwise both are in very good condition.The two Sauce spoons have Sheffield hallmarks for 1915 (X), and, again, are in very good condition. The photo's show it all ! Overall weight is approx. 176g (excluding glass liners and larger mustard spoon) : Salt 1 weighs 33.7g - Height approx. 3 1/4 " , Width at centre is approx. 1 1/2 " x 1 1/4 " deep Salt 2 weighs 33.3g - Height approx. 3 1/4 " , Width at centre is approx. 1 1/2 " x 1 1/4 " deep Mustard Pot weighs 45.9g - Height approx. 2" , length at centre is approx. 2 1/2 " x 2" deep Sauce 1 weighs 25.5g - Height approx. 1 1/3 " , Width at centre is approx. 2 1/2 " x 2" deep Sauce 2 weighs 24.2g - Height approx. 1 1/3 " , Width at centre is approx. 2 1/2 " x 2" deep Spoon 1 weighs 6.5g - Length approx. 2 1/2 " , Diameter of bowl is approx. 5/8 " Round . Spoon 2 weighs 6.9g - Length approx. 2 1/2 " , Diameter of bowl is approx. 5/8 " Round . Spoon 3 is possibly an 'imposter', but if you are interested - Length approx. 2 7/8 " , Diameter of bowl is approx. 4/5 " Round .As the price of silver is currently so high, I am starting this auction at its scrap value of £100Now the small print….eBay seems to have changed there Buyer - Payment rule to 4 days and they send recurrent email reminders to pay after 2 days - I will not give anyone any hassle whatsoever until 10 days have passed, but it is always appreciated if you would email me and let me know if there is going to be more than, say, a 4 day gap between the end of auction and 'pay-day', as it allows me plan ahead……. In exchange, I will post on the same day as payment is received, or the following day if it's gone 4:30, or is a Sunday or Bank Holiday. I will pack items so that even when the Post Office bulldozers run them over, they won't damage the contents. Finally, I am very easy going, so if there is any sort of problem, do get in touch, as most things can be easily rectified, parcels tracked, refunds given, instructions given as to how to turn it on, etc.I have finally found the time to empty out the cupboards and have a spring clean, resulting in an unusually diverse collection of bits and bobs, so after reading this (and bidding ...
