You are viewing at a truely beautiful piece of history. This is a Cranberry Thumbprint, Silverplated (with hallmark), Pickle Castor. Most pickle castors were produced between 1860 and 1910. By the hallmark stamped on the bottom of this castor, this particular one was made by the E.G. Webster & Son Company of New York and Brooklyn, between 1860 and 1865. The castor stands 9 3/4" tall and 4 1/2" in diameter at its widest point and comes with a lid and fork. The Glass is cranberry in color and is a thumbprint design. T is no stamp on the glass. It stands 4 1/2" tall and the top is 2 1/2" in diameter. The Silver has normal wear considering that it is about 148 years old!
