ADVERTISING HAMBY'S FAMOUS WELL DAWSON SPRINGS KY . ON THE OTHER SIDE, SOMEONE ENGRAVED THE NAME J J BLOCHER 1913 (from what I could find, owned a shoe cobbler shop in New Orleans La.) The mug is 95 years old at least with no chips or cracks. Most of the gold trim around the top has worn off. A WONDERFUL PEICE OF HISTORY. IT IS MADE OF SOME TYPE OF POTTERY ,LIKE CROCK AND HAS THE NUMBER 10 STAMPED ON THE BOTTOM. MEASURES 4.5 TALL, TOP OPENING IS 2 3/4 AND BOTTOM IS 3 3/4 ACROSS. DAWSON SPRINGS In its heyday, from the start of the century until mid- 1920's , this was one of best known spas, health resorts in the South. Thousands of the sick, the lame, the well came for curative waters and to enjoy the social activities. Six firms bottled and shipped the chalybeate water all over the U S. W I Hamby, resident of Hopkins County, discovered the springs in 1881.
