The Backstory:
We got a request from a for a train-style air horn that was loud. So being a group of engineers, and perhaps kids at heart, we purchased a lot of air horns. We tested, installed, disassembled, measured, listened, and along the way we learned a lot.

We designed THE HAMMER based on several factors you should think about:

The Train Sound - The only horns that people say "sound like" a train horn have 3 trumpets or more. The two horn trumpets just don't have the resonance. If you want that distinctly primal powerful "locomotive" or "train" sound get one with 3 or more trumpets.

Tone - For a few terror-filled days we cruised the highway testing different horns to see which "sound" people responded to most quickly. Admittedly this was sick, but fun. We watched people react to different horns:

Too high a pitch, you sound like a motor scooter. Too low a pitch and people don't seem to notice much. But when you hit that distinctive "Locomotive coming through" pitch, people got out of our way fast! We tune our horns to the distinct & classic "Locomotive" pitch. T are a number of BIG differences in this horn you should think about:

Chrome Everyw e- We chromed not just the outer trumpets, but also the caps and the air manifold. Why? Two reasons. One it looks good. Two, it lets people tell the difference between "our horn" and the "the clones." Our horn is one of the few that has a chromed manifold. "The clones" save a few pennies by using black paint.

Installation Headaches - This one hit us as a surprise when we first started doing this, but should have been obvious. Many other horn bundles have flared the trumpets so wide that their assembly is nearly a foot wide and 16" tall! Imagine mounting a milk crate on your roof! You simply can't fit a lot of the horns on the market under the hood. They are too wide.

Compact Design - We have to keep "the length" to make the low notes. We narrowed the trumpet flares and shrank the manifold width to the greatest extent possible. So the height & width of the Hammer 3 is a tight 6" wide x 7" tall, about the same as a dollar bill. The horn bundle, including manifold, is 15" long. Our horns will fit under the hood or on the frame of almost any vehicle. A mounting bracket is included.

Roof Horns -Since our horns are nice enough to mount on the roof, we'll mention that our compact design cuts wind resistance, decreases wind noise, and doesn't look like it came out of a cartoon. With a rack of 16" wide, 16" tall, and 25" long horns people might mistake you for a horn nerd.

Bottom line: You can actually install this horn on almost any vehicle! You can install it on the roof, under the hood, or underneath on the frame. If you off road it will fit within the protection of your Safari or Gobi rack. The character and sound quality are excellent by design. When you hit the horn button the sound will echo off the hills.

What About Too Loud? - Yes a horn can be too loud. After the novelty wears off most of our buyers dial back the pressure a bit. But that's a matter of personal choice.
