HAND CARVED AFRICAN SOAPSTONE CHESS SETFor sale in this auction is one beautiful hand carved African soapstone chess setIt has an elegant and simple design and each piece has a nice feel to the touch.The overall condition is very good but 4 pieces show signs of damage and repair. The white king shows two fractures that were glued back and solidly so. One of the fractures is at the neck and the other is right under the crown. Also, one red tower shows sign of damage and repair with some tiny part missing as the hurt was not has clean cut as on the king. One white tower has a chipped edge. There is also a tiny chip on the top of one of the red horseSoapstone is fairly fragile and can break easy e.g. don’t throw the pieces on the board in dejection if you’re losing or your king is cornered. The set deserves better. It may not be perfect but has a whole it is an original, one of a kind and very decorative chess setThe board itself measures 14by14 inches. The pawn is 2 inches tall and the king the tallest piece is 4 inches Each piece will be wrapped in bubble wrap for greater protection International shipping is 50.00 US dollars. It is pricey but the set is quite heavy.
