Hand carved Irish Setter which is a wood figurine and part of a collection from the estate of a veterinarian who practiced for more than 50 years. This is a beautifully carved Irish Setter (I am fairly certain it is an Irish Setter or some type of retriever) in a hunting or running pose. The right leg is curled under as if the dog is pointing. The features of the face of the dog are painted, the remainder of the dog is carved in detail. It is solid wood, 12 inches long, and 6 inches tall at the tail end and 2 inches tall at the head end. Please note the one defect is a slight crack or carving mark that goes around the top end of the tail, it is a semicircle shape and about 3/4th inch long, but not very deep. The dog is otherwise in very good condition considering the age. T are no markings or stamps regarding the maker of this figurine. It is the last Irish Setter in my father's collection. This has been stored in a smoke free environment.
