HAND CUT LEAD CRYSTAL WINE PITCHER FROM GERMANY This lovely Hand Cut Lead Crystal Wine Pitcher is from Bavaria's famous Theodor Schober Kristallglasschleifferei (Crystal Glass Works) in Berchtesgaden,Bavaria,Germany. Herr Schober has been blowing,cutting and etching lead crystal for over 50 years in his Berchtesgaden shop. I am German and come from the Berchtesgaden area.I well know that Herr Schober's work is know throughout Europe.Much of it is a "one of a kind".This pitcher is just that.I have three different types and am seeling a few,for I am moving back to Germany. The pitcher stands 7" tall and holds 500 ml or 1/2 liter or one pint.The pitcher is 24% lead crystal and weighs 2.5 pounds.The motif on the pitcher is that of a bunch of grapers,grape vines and leaves.The grapes are etched into the crystal.The vines are cut into the crystal and the leaves are cut into the crystal and etched.The base is diamond cut.The handle,neck and around the top of the pitcher are all cut......a lovely design.The handle's cutting is exceptional. It is a lovely piece of Old World crystal cutting and etching.Wine pitchers are used in Germany instead of the bottle being on the table.France does the same.T are crystal wine pitcher all over Germany,in fact,all over Europe,but Schober's work is magnificent! He shipped his work around the world.Sadly,Herr Schober passed away a few years ago and the Crystal Shop closed forever.......so his pieces are far more valueable now.Some are popping up in antique shops in and around Berchtesgaden. So this lovely piece is a "one of a kind".....hand made,cut,etched and polished by Herr Schober himself. It is a marvelous find for the lead crystal collector or just one that appreciates fine crystal and old world workmanship! Thank you for looking.
