THIS IS A DELUXE THICKNESS PUZZLE I cut my standard puzzles from 3mm (1/8" nominal) MDF panels. This puzzle is cut from a 5/32" MDF panel which is 25% thicker. For those who like the unique characteristics of wooden puzzles, this extra thickness adds to the enjoyment. DESCRIPTION I have cut this jigsaw puzzle by hand from a 5/32" medium density fiberboard (MDF) panel. This material is typically used as a wall covering in many homes. MDF is an engineered wood product made from natural wood fibers. Because MDF is made from waste wood it is eco-friendly. The picture is bonded to the wood panel and then each puzzle piece is hand cut using an electric scroll saw that is fitted with a very fine 0.008” blade, NOT a laser or water jet cutter controlled by a computer. The puzzle is then assembled to insure that all pieces are present and of the highest quality. A final coat of matte finish lacquer is applied before packaging. The puzzle consists of 140 fully interlocking pieces cut in the traditional knob and socket style. When assembled the puzzle measures approximately 7.75” x 10.5 almost a standard 8.5” x 11” paper size. The puzzle averages 1.7 pieces per square inch.
