I met Matsuo San at a small temple market that features the work of various local artisans. I couldn't help but notice the display of silk scarves from a distance, such vibrant colors and gorgeous shibori work, and each one different than the next. We chatted for a few minutes; he was surrounded by a crowd of appreciative customers that day and I didn't want to take up too much of his time, and my less than stellar Japanese ability didn't help matters much. I did manage to get his card before leaving though, and soon after made an appointment to go to his house and give his scarves a closer look. What a blissful hour!
