This is the Golden Pirate Skulls katana sword, wielded by the Ghostly Pirate Wraith.
When a sword is clay tempered it makes for differential hardness levels, usually the smith ends up with the hamon area being around 60 HRC and the non hamon area being 40 HRC. Many swords have a very small area of the blade being hamon. This katana's Hamon (60 HRC area of blade) is just under HALF the blade, making half the blade at 60 HRC and the other half at 40 HRC. I have found this to be VERY RARE in swords that sell on eBay. So get this one while you can. This is a 100% hand forged heat CLAY tempered katana sword. The sword smith used 1065 carbon steel to make this blade. This katana features full blood grooves on both sides of the blade, the purpose of this is to lighten the overall weight of the blade. This sword is rated superior for tameshigiri and will also work excellent for those seeking a katana for Iaido training. Blade Type: Katana Length: inches. Shinogi-zukuri style blade. Blade Width at: Machi 1/4 inch Yokote 1/4 inch Mune: Ihori, meaning back edge of blade is two sided. Hamon: Small Wave. Real hamon created by traditionally Clay tempering and hand polishing. Boshi: O-maru, meaning large circle (Boshi is tempered part of kissaki). Kissaki: Chu-kissaki, meaning medium length point. Nakago Length: 9 3/4 inches. Mekugi-ana #: Two. Referring to # of pegs securing tsuka (handle). Tsuba: Iron. Shape: Round. Description: Two Human skulls, Two Cow Skulls, & Cross Bones. Mei: None Period: 20th century. Fuchi/Kashira: Copper. Mei: None. Period: 20th century. Description: Skull & Cross Bones Motif. Habaki: Copper. Seppas: Copper. Ito: Gold, Cotton, Wrapped. Same': Black Ray Skin. Saya: Gold Sparkled, Lacquered, Wood. Features InDrmZ Logo. Comments: Hand Forged 1065 Carbon Steel. Clayed, Heat Tempered & Water Quenched. Dual blood grooves for lighter weight blade. HRC of 40 - 60 with slight variations.
