Thisdepiction of Amitabha Buddha shows him in the Samadhi mudra with bothpalms resting face up in his lap, seated on a double lotus pedestal. The gilded robe depicts various Buddha emanations and the golden face presents a peaceful state of bliss. Amitabha is the most ancient Buddha among the five Dhyani Buddhas, abstract aspects of Buddhahood. He is said to reside in the Sukhabati heaven in endless peaceful meditation.
