Hand Painted Demi Lune Commode by Imperial Furniture Album Album Album This is a unique furniture gem! Imperial Furniture was one of America's premier 20th century furniture manufacturing companies. Imperial was founded in 1903 in Grand Rapids, Michigan by Stuart Foote The company has been credited in some quarters with pioneering the concept of the low "coffee" table during the 1920's. One of the few furniture companies to survive the Depression, Imperial would flourish for decades after. The company even helped produce airplane wings for the war effort during WWII. What we see is an example of a 1930's hand painted Imperial piece. This beautiful, solid mahogany demi-lune provides a lot of storage space. The drawer features dovetail joinery and solid brass hardware. Decorative bell flower designs throughout tie in perfectly with the carefully constructed, large, hand painted Camellias and Buttercups displayed on the center door. In it's original excellent condition, this Commode would be a perfect addition to any home collection.
