i have for a auction this really nice bradley and hubbard leaded lamp. the base measures 22 and 1/2 inches tall with the shade being 18 inches wide which makes this a full sized lamp. the base properly signed with the b and h logo, please see photo, and in excellent original patina. the base is surprisingly heavy and well made and has a three socket cluster. all three sockets with good age and in good working condition. the base has no metal or fatique damage to note and will be around for another 100 years for sure. now onto the shade. as you can see many many pieces of glass of which i see 2 maybe 3 tight hairlines that are not going to fall out and will be just fine as is. i really like the prairie style design coming down from the top and ending in a flower at the bottom. the patina on the leading in good color and i see no area of disrepair in that regards. simply a great arts and crafts style lamp from the 1915-1925 time period and in excellent overall condition. all this and selling without reserve. thanks for looking and please check out my other ebay lighting auctions as well. bidders please remember that i am selling antiques and that there should be a degree of expectation on your part in knowing that there will be normal aging and minor imperfections towards an item that is 75 to 100 years old. chances are if there arent any, its a newer item and you shouldnt want it anyways. in other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. i really dont want to do a refund because the finial ( typically a 10.00 piece ) isnt perfect on a 2,000.00 lamp. i always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what i deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. it seems the more experienced an antique dealer or buyer is, the more understanding of condition they are. that being said, if you think your going to be a difficult buyer because you want perfection in a 100 year old piece, please purchase another ebay sellers product. ebay has made it very difficult for sellers in the past few years yet im a good seller who wants to be fair and all i ask for is a fair buyer to do business with. thanks for your understanding. if the winning bidder is from the northeast i would like to try and get this picked up or delivered if possible. Food, water, fire, oxygen, the sun, shelter etc. So when it comes to shelter and necessary light for it, that’s where I come in. I believe in living simply and within my means but surrounded by items of great quality. I would rather own a great reverse painted lamp or Stickley bookcase than drive a foreign car that will only depreciate in value and cost me good money for repairs and maintenance. Or pay $40,000 in property taxes a year on a 7,000 square foot home that I only use 2500 sq. ft. of and the wasteful utilities that go along with that. So why is it people go out and spend say $500.00 bucks on a pair of lamps that in ten years will be in a rummage sale with the hopes of getting $15.00 for the pair. Why not spend $1,000 on a lamp and have something meaningful, and when you tire of it ten years later, sell it, and get your money back in its entirety or even make a profit on top of the investment. Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something 100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world and now it’s yours.
