NO RESERVE Original Handel Lamp Base - Signed On Riser All Original Hubbell Sockets With Acorn Pull Chains Original Finish Of Copper Over Spelter Rewired With High Standard Rayon Cloth Cord Heavy Leaded Glass Shade SEE MORE PICTURES BELOWThis rare, well sought after, Handel lamp base is pictured in all of the Handel books, but is almost never signed. for your consideration is an awesome example that is signed Handel on the riser. The lamp base comes with three Hubbell pull chain sockets that are all original and free of repairs or swapped out switches, all of which are in perfect working order. The Hubbell sockets also retain their original acorn pulls. The Copper tones or layers on the neck of this base are deep and rich with perfect patina. I will let the pictures below speak for themselves - This is a nice example of this rare base. The original Fleur-de-lis heat cap is the deep version made to support larger shades. 4" O. D., slips 3 3/4" 1/4" draft, 1/4" center hole with a standard Handel brass finial. The base is 22 1/4" from the foot to the finial. The heavy 18" leaded shade is likely not Handel but is of high quality. The shade weighs 10.5 lbs. with no signs of cracks, chips or repairs. The glass is tight but t are some signs of oxidation with comes with a little age. It does not seem to be signed or marked anyw The shade ring seems to be brass or bronze with possible copper patina. Identifying metal is not my expertise, so I leave this part up to the bidder by including high resolution pictures that can be zoomed in to the smallest detail. Please feel free to ask any questions before the close of the auction. FLAT SHIPPING CHARGE OF $25.00 - U.S.P.S Priority Mail InsuredShade will be double boxed. After this auction started - just to be 100 percent sure - I did a close search on every glass piece of which t are many, for heat cracks or chips. I did find one small heat crack and is shown but is hard to see let alone get a photo of it. The glass used in this shade is a thick and rough hand made glass. This makes the tiny heat or stress crack almost invisible to the naked eye. Also because it is one of the smaller glass sections. This is shown in the center of the white circle in the picture to your left. These pictures have been added after the start of the auction because of a the question from an ebay member: Please give me more information about this lamp: 1. How deep is the shade? 2. Describe the colors in the shade (pics are a little dark). 3. What is your estimate of the shade's age? Thank you for your time. 1. Answer: The shade is large and deep measuring 9 1/2" from the top of the inside ring to the bottom edge of the shade. The shade is 18" across measuring from the bottom across. 2. Answer: It is hard to describe the colors because t does not seem to be much that is all one solid color. T are many shades of colors that range from browns, violets, blues, gold's, yellows. The turtleback squares are iridescent glass and stand out about 1/2" from the lead to the tips. I hope that these brighter pictures will answer this question for you. This picture and the one below show some the bubbles well on the bottom glass. 3. Answer: T is not much of the glass that does not have little air bubbles in it. I do not know much about dating shades alone. Normally if I am sure that the shade is original to the lamp base I can go by the base hardware. In this case I can not do that. The ring on the shade is bronze or...
