The Moscow heavy armed infantryman (Sagittarius), the 17th centurySagittariuses as constant army of the Moscow state, appeared in 1550. The tsar Ivan IV Grozny before a campaign to Kazan enjoined from soldiers with guns to select 3000 elective Sagittariuses and to lodge them in Moscow, in the Vorobyyovy settlement. The Streletsky service was voluntary and, as a rule, hereditary. Sagittariuses earned from treasury an annual salary and cloth for tailoring of "the official dress". In addition to service they were engaged in trade and crafts, being exempted from duties and taxes. For control of army in the capital the Streletsky Order was created. In addition to Moscow, there were also policemen Sagittariuses in other Russian cities. By the end of the 16th eyelid about 20-25 thousand Sagittariuses, and hundred years later, by the end of the 17th eyelid – 55 thousand, including 22,5 thousand Moscow Sagittariuses were.In the second half of the 17th eyelid in the Moscow was more than twenty streletskikh of orders (regiments).
