The Moscow heavy armed infantryman (Sagittarius), the 17th centurySagittariuses as constant army of the Moscow state, appeared in 1550. The tsar Ivan IV Grozny before a campaign to Kazan enjoined from soldiers with guns to select 3000 elective Sagittariuses and to lodge them in Moscow, in the Vorobyyovy settlement.
