The ‘ Billy’sSeafood ’ wooden shrimp boat was purchased back in the late ‘90’s at Billy’s Seafood in Bon Secour, Al. For those that are not familiar with Billy’s, it is a place on the Bon Secour River(that flows to the Gulf) selling fresh seafood and has a shrimping fleet. Close by are Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Foley, Al. Most everyone that has been to the Alabama coast at some time, has gone and bought seafood at Billy’s, whether to enjoy on vacation or pack up and take back home. The shrimp boat is handmade, not a kit, so no two are exactly alike. It was made by an inmate in Holman Prison at Atmore, Al. The red and white wooden boat is approximately 24 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 20 inches high (counting the 2 inch wooden brackets it sits on). It has lines, nets, and traps. On one side the little railing has a small broken place (photo 6) that could be glued. It is somewhat dusty and needs a little TLC. I no longer have a nautical decor.
