This Auction is for one NEW Hand Painted Sugar Bowl with spoon painted in the authentic 17th century style . This bowl was purchased directly from a tiny workshop near Conimbriga wit was made by local artisans. This bowl portrays a forest with a rabbit and exotic bird and has a scalloped edge and even the spoon has lovely hand painting. The colors are brilliant and the hand painting is very intricate. The back of the bowl is signed by the artist. The bowl measures 6.25 inches in diameter approximately 4 inches high and is dishwasher safe. T are no cracks or chips. A variation of this pottery is featured in the Williams Sonoma catalog called "Provence Dinner Plates" Shipping takes from 5 to 10 days. Pay Pal only. HISTORY OF 17th CENTURY COIMBRA POTTERY Ancient written documents have shown the "National Ceramic" production has existed in the Coimbra area since the year 1145 . Documents also show approval and regulation since the 16th century of "malegueiros" or artisans who fired the ceramic pieces twice.
