This is a wonderful large vintage cream and covered sugar set. Says "Handpainted Japan" on the bottom, along with a raised white star and an "S" inside a six-pointed star. I cannot identify the maker. Maybe a Noritake knock-off? Has raised gold (moriage) details, bamboo, flowers, and a rose-pink Mt. Fuji. Quite wonderful. Sugar measures about 5 inches high overall, and about 3 and 3/4 inches tall without the lid (photo 3). Overall d iameter at top is about 3 inches; diameter of bottom is about 4 and 3/16 inches (photos 4 and 5). Creamer measures about 3 and 7/8 inches at its highest point (photo 6); across the top it measures about 2 and 5/8 inches (photo 7); diameter of bottom measures about 3 and 5/8 inches Photos 8). Background includes a soft yellow-gold, cream, and grey. This is a fun and wonderful set, whoever made it!
