&nbspTitle Hanging Scroll : MARUYAMA OKYO "TSURU / Crane" w/box @A41 &nbspItem&nbspDescription *Maruyama Ōkyo (1733-1795): A painter of the Edo middle.He was born as the second son of the farmhouse.At first he was apprenticed to a toy shop of Kyoto in the days of his teens.Because he liked pictures since he was young,he learned a picture from painter "Ishida Yutei" of Kano School (Tsurusawa School) afterwards.Furthermore,he studied it originally from a Chinese old painting to Western perspective drawing widely.He described flowers and birds,an animal,an insect,a plant from various angles delicately,and established "the sketch" which added decorativeness.Okyo had already accepted his son "Maruyama Ozui 1766-1829","Nagasawa Rosetsu","Matsumura Gekkei (Gosyun)","Yoshimura Kokei 1769-1836","Komai Genki 1747-1797","Yamaguchi Soken 1759-1818" as pupils,and fomred a school.The school of painting keeps the position as important existence in the history of art as Maruyama school for long time to Meiji,it is evaluated very much at a base of the development of the Japanese traditional painting in modern times.
