LOVELY AND RARE HOLIDAY RED CENTER ANTIQUE PAISLEY SHAWL/THROW Enjoy owning a beautiful, clean and exquisitely soft antique fashion accessory from the 19th Century. Paisley shawls were the upscale fashion must-have of the entire 19th century. At no other time in history were so many beautifully designed textiles created. We are lucky that some survive. This one has a rare lovely color scheme: red center with floral motifs throughout, in deep saturated cherry red , blue , green , gold, black and white . Made in 1845, this shawl is in pretty perfect condition. The side selvedge is strong. T are several darns in the red center which are hard to photograph. They were made long ago and nicely executed. It measures 68 inches by 67 1/2, with over 2 inch complete fringe. A great holiday purchase! The shawl is made from the softest wool and silk. Since it is so clean and fresh looking, the softness is like the nicest gabardine. The colors are clear and perfect. This is quite rare for a paisley shawl of this date. This would make a perfect holiday gift, throw for the sofa, shawl for winter, or mount as a decorative piece. I can see it on a bed, also, cheering up the interior.
