Hard to find Cast Iron John Wright Bookends w/squirrel,chipmunk Bottle Openers This pair of cast iron bookends were made by the John Wright Company of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, early to mid-20 th century. A pair of Wright bookends in the form of football players sold at Skinner’s Auction in 2012 for $207 – and those were not the unusual form of this set, which feature a squirrel or chipmunk that also functions as a bottle opener! There is a screw on the bottom so you can unscrew them and there is a hook of sorts underneath their tale that would work as a bottle opener. I don’t think these were ever used for that. They weigh 5-1/2 pounds and I think would also work as door stops! 3-in-1 uses! They each measure 5-1/4” tall, almost 4” wide, and 2-1/2” deep. Condition: There is overall wear to the paint. Please look over my photographs carefully for the best idea of condition – and email me with any questions or if you need more photos.
