BOWL BY TEXAS MASTER POTTER HARDING BLACK This item came from a donor who purchased it from the Witte Memorial Museum in San Antonio, where she had taken pottery classes from Black. The artist was a master potter whose works are found in museums. Black died in 2004, after a 60-year pottery career. Baylor University has his archives. Black was known for his mid-century modern style and rich glazes that he developed through years of research. This piece is a deep bottom-of-the ocean blue with speckles. The exterior is ridged. One area of the bottom of the bowl has an orange-peel effect, original to the piece. This piece is 9 inches wide and 5 inches high. See the photos for details.
