1903, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company turned out a grand total of three motorcycles. All three were bought and paid for before they were completed. A fellow named Meyer took delivery of one of the first production cycles. He rode it 6,000 miles before selling it to George Lyon, who put 15,000 more miles on it. After that it was owned by a Dr. Webster, Louis Fluke and Stephen Sparrow, in that order. Those three consecutive owners accumulated 62,000 miles of dependable travel.

In 1913 Harley-Davidson advertised that their first motorcycle had covered over 100,000 miles, was still operating and retained its original bearings.
