This Harmony Kingdom box figurine named "Planet Dustbin" was carved by Peter Calvesbert in 2001. It was made in the Cottswold area of England and hand painted by local craftsmen. Dimensions (inches): 1.875 x 1.75 x 3 A departure from Peter's usual animal Treasure Jests, this Box Figurine epitomizes how Peter feels we humans treat our planet: just like a dustbin. The "No Fish" sign in the North Atlantic indicates the over-fishing of the seas and the inability of oil tankers to stay the right way up. Under one handle are the numbers "25" and "4" to point a finger at the country that contains 4% of the world's population but reportedly produces 25% of the world's "greenhouse" gases. The letter K inscribed on Japan marks the city of Kyoto. On a happier note the whale fluke near the tip of South Africa reminds Peter of his honeymoon and his first sighting of southern right whales. The polar bears on the lid and the penguins on the base are a reminder that the bears are found in the Arctic and the penguins in the Antarctic. The lid is a unique screw top. On the interior the signature mouse is buried by a pile of cans. The edition size is 2230 worldwide, with 2000 in the US and Canada. Buyer pays $7 for USPS Priority insured shipping.
