Harpers Meadows Saxlingham, No rfolk 1950's Original Oil Painting by James Wright (1935-) A very fine oil painting depicting a landscape in Norfolk by one of the most accomplished British landscape painters alive today, James Wright. The painting remains in very fine condition, it is signed with a monogram bottom left and is framed and ready to hang. James Wright was born on 13th January 1935 in Peterborough, today he is regarded as one of the finest landscape artists of his generation. Self taught, he is widely acclaimed for his romantic scenes of East Anglia and in particular his ability to capture the beauty of its wonderful sky. Many of his original works have been published as limited edition prints. His early years as an artist were spent capturing the haunting scenes of the once busy fishing villages in Norfolk, Cornwall and Sussex. Many of these sensitive images showing his appreciation of the form and structure of boats and his portrayal of the ever changing sky, having been reproduced in print. He became absorbed by the natural beauty of his own county of Lincolnshire. Glimpses of dilapidated farmyards and tree-lined dirty mud tracks dominated his work. Then followed the main focus of his artistic life, the infinite variety of the East Anglian landscape. Ranging from the idyllic scenes of East Runton beach to the rich and glorious views of the Suffolk countryside, his work is acclaimed and collected. Recently a book, James Wright's East Anglia was published documenting some of Wright's life and works. Wright is probably one of the most accomplished artists for this type of landscape alive today. His composition is wonderful and the colouring superb. This painting is framed and mounted and is ready to hang and would grace any home and would be a very interesting talking point.
