"HARPER'S PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR - TWO VOLUMES" by Alfred H. Guernsey and Henry M. Alden. Chicago: McDonnell Bros. (1866) (1868) FIRST EDITIONS! 11 7/8 x 16 3/8; 836 pages; brick red covers with gold titles on front covers. The volumes are profusely illustrated with engravings throughout. There is a colored double-page foldout map in Vol. I of the Southern states. The volumes are in very good condition with a bit of wear at corners and top and bottom of spine. The gold titles on covers are still quite bright. There is a short tear at the center fold of the double-page foldout map. The pages are tanned some. There are no names, marks or tears. The 3rd, 4th and 5th photos are from Volume I; the 6th, 7th and 8th are from Volume II. The books are quite heavy and might best be mailed in a large Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.
