It tends to be heavily stamped with designs. Frequently there are arrows and swastikas on the bracelets. These designs were introduced to the Navajo by the traders, who knew that the white man preferred to have designs on silver jewelry which were, to his mind, typical of Indian art. The swastika and arrow appealed to the Navajo silversmiths, and they began to stamp the silver which they made for themselves with these designs. John Adair : “ Navajo-Pueblo Silversmiths ” 1944. Many of these Native American bracelets were made in Sterling Silver, coin silver, nickel-silver, and occasionally in brass and copper. (This bracelet tests out as Sterling in heavy gauge silver ) The bracelet has the “ Swastikas ”, Horses, Feathers , etc. with a beautiful punched-out dome giving a thick dimensional affect in the middle. The aged patina is quite evident from long-term storage. If you like a cleaner look, polish to the shine you desire by using baking soda paste or a polishing cloth. You won’t harm the bracelet.
