is a very rare and outstanding early 1957 top logo 9 1/8" wide china dinner service plate made for Harveys Department Store "Lunch Counter" that was located in Nashville Tennessee. Harveys Department store was located next to the Warner Building on Church St in the Downtown area. Harvey's was founded by Fred Harvey in the Nashville area in the 1940's. The department store was a very impressive 7 storied building that featured everything you could imagine in a Department Store, along with it having it's own restaurant / lunch counter (located in the basement), which is w this plate would have been used at. In Nashville, Harvey's Lunch Counter was known as the "best lunch in Nashville". Inside the store, the toy and the carousel were located on the top floor, which the horses were identical to the horse logo on this plate. The plate has a large multi-colored carousel horse in the center with a flag on the pole above it that reads "It's fun to shop at Harveys". This plate was made by Shenango China in New Castle Pennsyvania and has the 1957 datemark (H-15). The plate has no cracks, no usage chips, and has had only very light usage and is in overall excellent looking condition. This is the heavyweight type Railroad, Hotel, and Steamship China.
