FIVE DAY ONLY AUCTION Up for auction is a wonderful fireplace fender. This brass fender is called the “SERPENTINE FIREPLACE FENDER” and is style number CW 102-1. The fender was made by either Harvin of Maryland or by Virginia Metalcrafters of Virginia for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s fine line of brass restorations and reproductions. This fender has a beautiful reticulated pierced pattern with a scalloped edge and is reproduced from an English antique. VM bought out Harvin in 1953 but continued to use the Harvin name on the CW's lines, as Harvin orginially had the rights to reproduce Colonial Williamsburg items. As seen in VM catalogs the Harvin name was used thru the 1980s. The fender is in great condition. It is from the late 1950s to early 1960s and is shown as found. The fender has an old patina look to it which you could use as is or have it clean and polish for that shiny new look. There are no major scratches, dings or dents that I can find on it. The fender measures 6 3/4 inches high, 49 1/4 inches in width and 11 5/8 inches in depth. It has the CW and Harvin logos embedded on the back side along with the word “Williamsburg”. This great fender, which is no longer produced and is no longer available from Colonial Williamsburg, would work well with your reproduction and more modern items from such new and old furniture read more
