Up for bid is an exscellant example of a Type 1 Haskett Paleo Blade made from Chesterfield Obsidian near Soda Springs, Idaho. The Haskett complex dates to around 10,500 years ago and was so named after Parley Haskett of Pocatello, Idaho, who first discovered them. This blade was made by percussion with pressure retouch by Dann Russell , one of northern Utah's most recognized knappers . Mr. Russell has written several articles in the Utah Archaeological Journal and Indian Artifact Magazine dealing with Haskett Blades and a discovered Haskett site in the Northeastern Great Basin. This Haskett reproduction measures 5 inches long and 1 1/4 inches wide and has been basally ground as were all Hasketts. This would make a fine example of a "Rare" Western Stemmed Paleo Blade .
