"PRESIDENTIAL 7 1/2 INCH SALAD PLATE"
*** "DROP ROSE #55 VARIANT PATTERN WITH COBALT AND GOLD TRIM" ***
~LARGE PINK AMERICAN BEAUTY ROSES~ !!!
This is a very rare and beautiful Haviland Limoges PRESIDENTIAL cobalt and gold trim drop rose salad plate. T were few of these pieces manufactured and most are in private collections or in museums.
This pattern was sold to President and Mrs. McKinley in the year 1900 for their personal use. This was just one year before President Mc Kinley was assassinated. Because of this it is considered Presidential china and is refered to as "Presidential Drop Rose" It is undoubtly the most desired and rare drop rose pattern ever made. You will rarely see any of these china pieces sold on the open market.
The pattern is called "Drop Rose" and is a variant of Schleiger #55 a Haviland classic. This fabulous pattern is highly sought by even the most advanced collectors. This salad plate is a medium/dark pink rather than the lighter dusty pink and is hard to find it has a high price valuation in all of the books. I have read about it but have not seen it pictured in any of the normal collector books. "Drop Rose" is one of the most elegant Haviland patterns ever made and a delight to the eye. This is the most unusual and beautiful of all drop rose patterns.
