A water pitcher, made in Limoges, France, by Haviland in the Ranson blank. The pattern, The Bretagne, is marked on the bottom with the makers mark. The pattern is a delicate scattering of pink, white and green roses. The rims are scalloped and the handle is ornate with gold sponged and painted trim. The flutes at the bottom rim also have sponged gold. This piece appears in the booklet "The Ranson Blank - an identification Guide", published by the Haviland Collectors International Education Foundation, on page 22. The pitcher is described as a water pitcher, although it would be grand for serving milk, lemonade, or beverage. This pitcher was produced in 4 sizes; this size is the #3 size, and has an impressed 3 on the bottom. It stands 6 3/4" high to the spout, and the bottom is 5 3/4 across. "Haviland France" is marked on the bottom in green; it also bears the "Haviland Limoges" red decorating mark on the bottom in addition to the pattern name.CONDITION: We could find no cracks, no chips, no hairlines, no crazing.
