This is a lot of seven (7) figures by MARS Limited, Set No. 170, Hawaii, King Kalakaua I Royal Guard. 1886. The figures wear dark-blue jackets with gold buttons, white leather belts, white trousers, and white pith helmet with brass fittings; the is one officer and six other ranks. MARS Limited (ML) figures are 54mm scale figures made in the style of old toy soldiers. The figures were produced and hand-painted in Houston. Texas. The figures come in an original red Regiments of the World box of issue with camp-site and Tudor roses. The figures were for produced between 1986 and 1991. Still tied in original box; tie card bent between officer and other rank. Kalakaua I was born on November 16, 1836, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and died on January 20, 1891, at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. He was the last king of Hawaii, ruling from 1874 until 1891. He was known as the Merrie Monarch and as a new king traveled around the world meeting world leaders, teaching them about his kingdom. He was succeeded by his sister, Queen Lili'uokalani.
