Hula ready traditional chanting Ipu Heke. All hand made. Dual thick skin gourd construction, cored and epoxy cementing. Beautiful natural patterning on gourds produced during normal growing. Exterior seasoned with Kukui Oil. Braid wrist hold collar. Excellent percussion tone. Perfect size for chanting. Measures 22" height , 9 1/2" wide top gourd, 10" wide bottom gourd. Not self standing.Ipu Heke sizing for chanting : Measure the distance from the floor to the mid-chest area while in playing position (either kneeling or sitting). That measurement will be the maximum recommended height of the ipu heke, but a few inches shorter will also work.
