It was originally published in 1935 by author Tom Blake, then republished in 1983 and again in 2000 by Bank Wright. It is Tom Blake's rememberances of his years living in Honolulu , Hawaii . It is loaded with classic oldtime pictures of Hawaii 's "golden era" before the towering hotels and car chocked streets took over. This is truly a "surf classic" written by a surfer who was already considered a legend. Tom Blake is excellent... a must for all those who have made the journey, or have just dreamed about it. Tom Blake was the original Malibu surfer and the inventor of the hollow surfboard, the fin and the sailboard. He also made a historical, technological, even spiritual study of waveriding, and in doing so, he elevated the sport to a level well beyond mere recreation. As an added bonus, Hawaiian Surfriders includes an introduction by Duke Kahanamoku. Surfing, Duke writes "reaches back into the dim age of legends, when our kings and chiefs found surfriding their favorite pastime. And as surfriding has endured in Hawaii through wars, plagues and famine, it bids fair to last forever." HAVE QUESTIONS? NOTES TO BIDDERS Auction read more
