Ulumaika Hawaiian Game Stone Found On MauiUlumaika was a game of skill played by the ancient Hawaiians. It is believed that a hand shaped stone or Ulumaika, as it was called in Hawaiian, was rolled between two upright sticks that had been pounded into the ground. This Ulumaika stone is from a Maui collection and was found in north west Maui area. The stone is a porous gray basalt that has weathering and mineralization consistent with a pre-contact artifact. This is a very-very old in-situ (in as found condition) Ulumaika. It measures 2-1/4 inches in diameter and about 1-1/2 inch thick.
