Despite English amps being pretty much the benchmark for everyone else, there were very few guitar makers of any real repute - Burns, and, er, well, that’s it really! Hayman guitars were developed for Dallas Arbiter by Jim Burns after he sold his company, and were in their day regarded as the English Fender, having the same attention to detail and build quality as the more expensive American axes. All manufactured in the UK.The 40/40 was the only bass in the range, and as such they’re quite rare these days. This one dates to 1974 according to the serial no, and is in pretty good nick for it’s age (37 years old!), having belonged to a working musician for most of its life and done many gigs and recording sessions. For all that, the nicks and scars are small and not many, with some light lacquer crazing on the back only, but no buckle rash. Everything’s there that should be, all original, except for the bridge cover - most people took it off ‘cos it got in the way, and then promptly lost it - this one is no exception.
