Today we have an extra-special item that we are bringing to auction for your consideration and acquisition that is just the Cat's Pajamas of a Hazel-Atlas Depression glass one-pound butter dish!!! It was made during the 1930's/early 1940's and is embossed on the top of lid with BUTTER COVER and the butter dish is embossed on the inside with BOTTOM! The beautiful rayed Deco design is underneath the bottom of the butter dish! From handle to handle the butter dish bottom is 6-3/4" long by 3-1/2" at the widest point of the outside rim. With the lid in place, the butter dish is 3-3/8" tall. The butter dish and lid are in fabulous condition with just a little handful of pretty minor exceptions! T are about 3 very teeny tiny fleabites on the inside rim of the lid and on the mould line of the inside t is an area that is very thin that is less than 1" long w t was some extremely minor chattering...(basically, a series of teeny tiny fleabites) from the lid being placed onto the butter dish! On the butter dish bottom t is a 1/4" sliver chip that starts off much smaller on the edge of the inside bottom rim that fans out to the 1/4" width. It is relatively smooth after I gave it a little TLC filing! Also, on the same inside rim on the opposite side, t is a little indent that is 1/8" long x 1/16" wide looks like it was made with someone being too rough with their butter knife and cut the glass inside of the butter! The small imperfections on this two-piece butter are pretty minor, but I will always tell you about all issues, even if they are small! The glass has the usual Depression glass characteristics of swirling, waviness in the glass, some little straw/cooling marks, and just a little bit glass mould line roughness and base rub marks from sliding across surfaces over the years! The glass has a few use marks from utensil use, but t are not very many which I find amazing! Overall, with the outside rims of both pieces, the handles and 95% of the inside rims being almost as smooth as butter, this will be a very lovely piece to add to your Depression glassware collection that is definitely a hard-to-find item in green these days! With a bright, very cheerful spring green color by day and with an intense ultra-neon lime glow by black lighting, this Hazel-Atlas butter dish will truly be a highlight in your kitchen collectibles and tableware setting that everyone will love to use and enjoy!
