Sweet, hand carved heart cookie or springerle board with a rose and leaves in the center of the heart. A stout chunk of wood, 1 ¼" thick.....but delightful small size, only 5 ½" square. Nicely executed carving, probably PA Dutch late 19 th early 20 th c. Very tight grained wood with lots of wear on the corners and edges, which is what you want to see, because the cookies were always tapped on a hard surface to get them out of these molds and onto the baking sheet or peel. Does not have any type of hanger (may have at one time)...but stands upright on its own for display. Great addition to any country kitchen or mold collection.
