Note: That is dust you see on the clock! So I'm not a great housekeeper! Sue me! From the finest name in American Clocks comes this circa 1950 very heavy, large Ships Bell Clock and matching Barometer. Clock runs perfectly and chimes the ships bells correctly. The face has a few minor marks near the fast/slow adjustment but otherwise is nice. It was sold by The Frank Herschede Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. I don't know much about barometers but the thermometer works well and the barometer reads "Fair" and that seems accurate to me. The set is in fantastic shape. Measures 14" long x 9" tall. The clock face is about 4" across. I took the works out and examined them (even though I don't know what I'm looking at) and they appear clean, almost untouched. I photographed them and tried to show the serial number which is 584051. That dates the clock works to the early 1950's. Actually I didn't need to take out the works to determine the date because the date is inscribed on the front of the base (1953). The clock was given as a 50 year anniversary gift for an executive at the Philip Carey Company of Ohio. For those unfamiliar with the Carey Company, it had the dubious distinction of being a major manufacturer of asbestos products and was destroyed by the lawsuits associated with the product. Both doors are hinged and open & close fine. Offered at a reasonable starting price and I hope this fine clock finds a new home with you. Shipping will run around 30. because the clock is very heavy and will need to be double boxed to avoid breakage. Thanks for looking in. Hi. One last thing I want to add (since I just noticed it). T is a small flake on the dark bronze patina on the stand that holds the clock. Since it is small it is hard to see in the pictures but if you look closely you will see it. It looks like a small gold dot. I also noticed one of the little rungs attached to the "steering wheel" around the barometer case was unscrewed in the picture. I screwed it tight again. Please ask any other questions in case I missed anything else! Also, I will be listing a Tiffany Studios Linenfold lamp soon, for you lamp people.
