HECTOR AGUILAR VINTAGE MEXICAN STERLING SILVER CUP LOOK WOW *** IMPORTANT BOOK PIECE FULLY MARKED NR Up for auction a really interesting Hector Aguilar full marked cup creamer. This fabulous piece is all made in solid silver, and it is fully marked as follows: Taxco HA 940. An original vintage piece which is perfect conditions. It weights 157.8 grams measures 2 ¾ x 5 ½ inches it is from the 50's more or less. HECTOR AGUILAR was one of the first artisans to leave Spratling's shop, opening his Borda Taller in 1939. His jewelry reflects his own ingenious design sensibility, inventing new and innovative elements in the mechanical aspects of his designs. Although, his early works drew heavily from pre-Columbian motifs, he soon expanded his designs to include bolder, more sophisticated melding of stones and silver. /taxco.htm Up for auction an interesting vintage Mexican sterling silver cup creamer. As the book called MEXICAN SILVER 20th century Handwrought, jewelry and metal work by Penny Chittim Morrill and Carole A. Berk. It has the hallmark a simply attach "HA" in an indented circle. On either side were the marks " Taxco " in block letters and "940" in a rectangular indentation. This told us that this cup was made before 1950´s. The style of Hector Aguilar is Dramatic, without flourishes or extra touches that would take away from the strength of the design. It is an excellent example of the work produce by this Taxco Master. It is in wonderful and perfect condition, well taken care of and gorgeous. If you are a collector of Mexican jewelry or just want a hard to find sterling silver, don't let this pass you by.
