Antique Heintz Bronze & Sterling Silver Cigar Box Humidor Patent 1912 This really beautiful example of Heintz metalwork is a box made of bronze with a slightly raised sterling silver Arts & Crafts or Art Deco design applied to the top. It is lined with wood (cedar?) and the inside of the lid has a sliding screen with small knob. I believe the screen was used to hold something to regulate the humidity in the box. The four sides and bottom have an attractive mottled or variegated Verde green finish. In contrast, the bronze on the lid just has age patina, not the mottled green. The bottom has the diamond shaped Heintz maker's mark with "H.A.M.S." inside which stands for Heintz Art Metal Shop . It is also marked "4095", "Sterling on Bronze", "Pat Aug 27 .12" , "31" and "R.H. Macy & Co. Inc". There is also a "31" on the inside of the top lid. The size is 8.5" long by 3.5" wide by 2.5" tall. It appears to be in great condition and I have not cleaned or polished it. Though its original purpose was a humidor, it can simply be used as a desk accessory box. Please see all the pictures and ask any questions that might br helpful.
