Heisey #4036 1/2 Winchester 73 Etch #517 Decanter and stopper Stands about 13 inches tall with stopper in and about 10 1/2 inches tall with out stopper in. Stopper is about 3 1/2 inches long. In excellent condition with no chips or cracks and some water spots inside that may wash out. Winchester 73 (Deep Plate Etch #517) : The Design is a deep plate etch featuring a western rifles motif with crossed pair of Winchester 73 rifles, Cowboy on Horseback, steer head, brands, guitar, gun, spur, coffee pot, and playing cards. This pattern was introduced in 1950 to tie-in glassware and movies. Horace King designed the line to be marketed in conjunction with the new movie "Winchester 73" starring James Stewart and Shelly Winters. The pattern was also coordinated with Vernon Kilns china pattern with simliar design and name. Due to a change in the movie's premier date, the promotion did not work. Neither Heisey nor Vernon Kilns could develop the wares and advertising quickly enough to meet the new date. It is now a very rare etching, in part due to that and its limited production of less than two years. Not marked with diamond Heisey "H" but had the blue foil Heisey sticker which most buyers promptly removed. Quality packing used to protect item. -Thank you for looking and please visit my ebay store -
