's a really fantastic lot of old elegant glassware which was manufactured by A.H. Heisey and Company of Newark, Ohio. The etched decordation on this is called "Osage", a pantograph etching which was introduced around 1918, and continued in production until around 1928. It is essentially the same as another Heisey etch from the same period called Dundee, which features a heart shape; in Osage, the heart is partially covered up by a floral medallion. I cannot find the blank for these pieces in my meager Heisey references; if some expert out t would like to enlighten me, I'm all ears. The six glasses are each about 6-1/2 inches tall; the mouth (which is flared gently outward) is a little over 2-5/8" across, and the foot or base has a diameter of 2-1/2". When filled to the absolute brim, each holds about 6 ounces, so 'functional capacity' is around 5 ounces (a wine glass or claret, presumably). All six glasses are in wonderful shape with nary a fleabite or rim chip or flake anyw to be found. They're just stunning, and very delicate. The decanter measures about 13" tall with the stopper in, about 10-1/2" without. The bottom is about 5" in diameter, and by my imperfect measurements it holds about 40 ounces of liquid when filled about halfway up the neck (giving you enough to fill the glasses, plus two refills for somebody). The decanter is also in excellent shape, with no cloudiness, cracks, fleabites, nicks or anything that I can discern (for all these pieces, I'm sure a true nit-picker could find something wrong with 85-year old pieces of glass, but I see absolutely nothing). This is just an incredible set of glassware, probably the finest thing I've ever owned in my vast six-year experience of glass collecting, and it needs a new home. Buyer to pay only ACTUAL shipping costs (USPS Priority or Parcel Post from zip 67042), plus actual insurance costs, if insurance is desired. I'm going to part ways with my normal modus operandi and charge a $3.50 'handling' charge on this set, because I'm going to want to buy a special box, and will want to take extra time and care with the packing of this rare and fragile glassware. Regardless, I'm also going to break with tradition and require insurance, becuase I don't want to be responsible for whatever havoc the gorillas at the USPS can dish out. Hopefully, when you receive this set undamaged, you'll understand why I'm doing this. If you have any questions at all, shoot me an e-mail, and I'll answer as best I can. I'm also concerned that my pictures are inadequate, so if you want some more, I'll send you all that I've taken (good and bad), or if you want to see something in particular, I'll try and take a picture of it for you. Payment is expected within 10 days of the close of the auction. Cashiers checks/money orders are preferred, but personal checks are fine also (item is held for a couple of days for the check to clear, but repeat buyers ship as soon as I can get around to it...unfortunately, I don't actually do this for a living, and I'm not sure I'd want to). I've also resumed taking Paypal, for the convenience of my buyers.I've got a number of other things up right now, and recently, I've done quite a lot of buying of elegant glassware (a lot of old amber Fostoria, actually, though I'm planning on listing some other things), and I'm hoping to get a lot of it up as quickly as possible, so be sure to check out my other auctions (link at the upper right of this page) for more beautiful Depression-era and other antique glassware. Thanks for looking!!
