This lot is for a FULLY FUNCTIONAL, HELBROS "Self-Winding", Vintage Wristwatch, SOLID SILVER WATCH BAND, Circa 1960s! Helbros began in 1913. The name actually comes from its founders, the Helbein Brothers. They were middle class Swiss German watchmakers who set out with one primary goal...that goal being to design and manufacture a quality timepiece that could be made affordable to the working public. 1913 was an era when only the relatively well-to-do could afford a timepiece. The two brother’s success was enough to make their watch brand, Helbros, a household name throughout the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Helbros has only ever been in the hands of three ownerships…each interestingly enough trained by the previous. I am unable to remove the watch case from the band to view the movement, however, it is marked on the face as "Self-Winding". The watch band is solid silver with several turquoise-like stones. There are two methods of winding the watch, by using the winding knob AND the watch automatically winds from the wearer's body movements. The solid silver band may be some sort of southwestern tribal design. The watch band was acid-tested and confirmed as solid silver by a local jeweler. The watch case material is unknown.
