HELMET PLUME SOCKET BRASS CANDLE STICK 1870 - 1890 WAR OF INDIANS & US ARMY Fantastic pieces of US History! You are bidding on a Brass candlestick fashioned from the Plume Holders of US Army helmets during the 1870-1890 war between the American Indians. The candlestick measures 6 inches tall sitting on a Mahogany wood base that is 4 inches in diameter. The candlestick cup is 14/16 inches in diameter. The Plume Holder has ornate detailed Eagle wearing a Shield, Star above, feet grasping a sheaf of wheat and arrows. The material appears to be brass is tarnished and the patina is quite interesting with hues of green, gold, brass and copper. It is very sturdy but could use some cleaning. It belonged to my mother who may have tried to it 20 or more years ago. I have had it in storage until a recent "purge binge" and would like to get it to someone who would appreciate American History. This could be displayed as is or the base and the candle stick can be removed as far as I can tell. The aged sticker on the bottom of reads: "This Candle Stick is made from the Helmet Plume Socket (as shown on above cut) style worn by Officers nd Privates of the U.S. Army, from 1870-1890. By mounting this Plume Socket on a mahogany base, with a small cup at the top to hold candle, and being connected together with a steel rod, makes a very ornamental and useful curio". Please email me prior to bidding with questions or requests for additional photos. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! To clarify, this auction is for ONE Candlestick Helment Plume Holder. Please email me with any questions.
