A vintage HEAVY SILVER SOLDERED NEO-CLASSICAL STYLE CHAFING DISHh used at the Whitehall Mansion built by Henry Flagler founder of Florida East Coast Railroad and several gilded age Florida Hotels. Whitehall mansion became a hotel after the death of Henry Flagler.This piece was part of a collection along with various other pieces of china ( The china pattern is mentioned on page 398 of Richard Luckin's "Dining on Rails". He references the pattern as FEC-12 WHITEHALL FLAGLER).and hollowware marked "made expressly for Whitehall, Palm Beach" and made in the 1920s. The other pieces have been listed and sold and this is the next to the last remaining piece form Whitehall. I have one remaining bowl to sell which I will list soon.The chafing dish comprises four parts and stands approx. 10 " tall . It is marked "WHITEHALL, REED & BARTON SILVER SOLDERED" AND BOTH THE BOTTOM OF THE CHAFING BOWL AND THE BURNER HOLDER.
